As soon as i clapped eyes on Amy Butlers latest fabric collection i knew it was destined to become a skirt.  I cut some big 10" squares and patchworked them together and then cut out an a-line shape.  It took two attempts to get the zipper reasonable - my tip for future zipper installations is to leave a huge seam allowance (like an inch!) to make life easier.   We have been having some beautiful dry season weather  and our vegie garden is starting to take off.Everything is flowering and the kids visit every morning to pollinate the flowers on the pumpkins.  We are picking bok choy and radishes, zucchini,  heaps of parsley and basil, snow peas and coriander.  Wow, 530 mm of rain ( courtesy of Cyclone Carlos ) since Monday and we havent floated away!(Poor old Fluffy looks like a drowned rat) we had a torrent of water running between the two buildings We lost quite a few big gums, about 10 of them  fell over on Wednesday all about the place, just uprooted from all of the water.  I was most concerned about this one  but it stayed put thank goodness!

 I got an idea for a quilt yesterday and had to go make it.  Immediately.  I wanted a bunting but without the applique so made up these little flag blocks.  They are very random and if i make it again i think i will make them all the same but alternate direction and that way all the seams will line up.  I do like the randomness of it though. I didnt think I was too bad for a beginner but I seem to have messed up a fundamental step with this baby, the most boring and tedious part ( for me ) - basting.
